I am about to be Houston bound. It kind of sucks though because Cary was supposed to go there so I was gonna ride with her, and that was really the only reason that I decided to go. I am tired of the drive, it gets pretty repeticious ya know. But I told people I would be there so I must go. heh. I went to see Jeff play last night (Jeff Klein). He is going to NY for a few weeks so I won't be able to see him for a while, sad. I took my friend Ryan (and no not Ryan Adams though we all know that by the amount I write about him I definetly would not have minded....and who knows, Jeff knows him so maybe he would have said yes if I asked?) whom Ashley says looks like Kurt Cobain, but I don't really see it...I think its just because of the hair. The show was amazing....anyone who hasn't seen him live definetly should. Its beautiful. Kind of like the song "Oh My Sweet Carolina," by Ryan Adams. Summer school starts Monday, I am half excited and half dreading it. I mean, when I am in school I can usually find some worth, and I don't know why. I have been looking for a job and hopefully something will pop up within the next week. Anyways, I feel I can talk for hours but instead I am going to hit the road for hours. Hope all is well.

I have been meaning to write, and I will be sitting here, and then I say that I will do it later because I have so much to say. And what I have to say is always different and I forget which last even was so important that I wrote. Anyways, after a long drive Thursday that entailed making a mess outa the icee machine and eating gordettas, I am back here in San Marcos. I went to see Patty Griffin at Stubbs on Thursday, one word: AMAZING. Such and Inspiration. So then Friday My brother Thom came up here and we went to see Goudie's last show at the Steamboat. That was bunches of fun. So then we were going to go down the river Saturday, but weather.com said that it was going to rain so we chose not to. The day was beautiful. We ended up playing Frisbee Golf, going to an Art Museum, drinking coffee and eating at a vegetarian restaurant called Mothers out there in Hyde Park area. So Sunday we went to the river with about 20 other people. It was fun and a story in itself (fight, stitches, cold water, driving home). Today we just kind of chilled and tomorrow I look for a job. I watched a lot of Ryan Adams today: CMT Crossroads with Elton John and USA Willie Nelson & Friends (Ryan Adams is one of them). It was great. He is great. I really like him, and his amazing songwriting abilities. Won't you be my neighbor Ryan? I'm tryin to find me somethin, but I'm not sure just what.....goodnight.

This will be my last 'blog' while on Brazilian soil and last time to be able to type a ç letter. I will have enough time on the plane to write a book, or maybe just finish the book that I started on this trip. My nose is full of gross stuff and my throat is almost closed. It is so polluted in Sáo Paulo...time to come back to a cle...oh wait I am going to Houston nevermind. Well, in a couple of days I will be in my lovely city of Austin. Ahh can't wait for my arrival. But I am sad to say that one of my best friends is leaving me for the summer on saturday. I am going to miss her....you know who you are kid. Eu tive uma estadia grande em Brasil mas agora é hora para mim de começar o inferno fora de aqui. Eu estou vindo para casa! Eu te amo mais do que a vida própria, mas vocé é toda foder louco.
Another walk over to the mall. I got a cookies and cream milkshake from Dagenhaz because nothing else appealed to me. My mom called, ahh another American voice to hear that understands me. I noticed that everyone uses 2 straws here…even in milkshakes…I can’t do that…its like overflow in the mouth. My plane leaves around 9:20 tonight and I get in to Houston at 5:30…sounds like fun. I have been watching TV more than I watch it in the states because that is rare. Mostly re-runs of Seinfeld, Full House, and shows that were on ten years ago in the states. I also catch some re-runs of the osbourns…I like that show…I love you all more than life itself, but you’re all f*beep*cking mad! Haha. It was raining this morning. I already finished packing my stuff, probably going to go up to the HC floor of the hotel and read. (‘Brush with the Law’ great book www.brushwiththelaw.com) I will write about Rio and all that jazz tonight on the plane since I will have nothing else to do for the majority of the time besides eat, watch movies, and listen to music (I don’t even put sleep in there because I rarely get a glimpse on planes.) Ciao.

Last night I went out and ate lots of sushi with Roberta and Eddie. It was sooo good. Then I woke up this morning and went to (I will tell you later) where they have a beautiful beach. For some reason 'beach' looks fun as if that isn't the way it is supposed to be spelled...ever get that feeling? I sat there and drank a beer and then a pineapple drink with vodka, while my dad was in a meeting. I also read (not completed yet) 'Brush with the Law.' Its a good book, I just got done reading here at the office for about another 2 hours. It is hot in here...no air and its almost 6 p.m. here. I want to go wash the sand off my dirty body. I go to Rio de Janiero (sp?) in the morning for the day. Going to take a tour and hang out at the famous beach (there is that weird word again) that I can't remember the name of...cocoa cabana I think. I am invited to come back here in september and in December/January. That is their 'summer.' And I would go to the beach with Roberta. Sounds like fun, but that is the time that I usually like to go to the mountains and snowboard. My head has been kind of sore lately because of all the ''unseen speedbumps'' where my head hits the ''oh shit bar'' in the back seat. Ah, but I gues it is all worth it. This keyboard will make funny symbols like: á ç é í ó ú ý. My favorite one is the ç because it is funky like that. They want me to come or stay here and work and I could go across the street from the office and attend a poruguese for americans school. HAHA. Riiight...like to see my do that. Maybe someday soon though. I wonder if you can tell that I am sort of bored. In which case I am going to stop writing on this thing now.

Its 5:30 here. I wore myself out walking in circles in the mall today. I felt kind of trapped because I had no options...It was either the mall or the hotel. The mall was infested with American goods or american like goods...even The Bombay Company. I didn't care for many of the stores they had and mainly walked around in a daze not feeling oh so hot. My stomach is not treating me that well. I am supposed to go eat Japanese/sushi at about 10-10:30 tonight...isn't that a bit late to be eating? Thats what I thought, but not around here...and then go and do something else? And then leave here at about 6 to go to some other place that is 2.5 hours away? AH I'd rather sleep. I am going to take a nap now so maybe I will feel better and have some sort of energy tonight. Ciao.

Another day in Brazil. It is very tiring and very busy. Happy Mothers Day. I am sorry that I am away from my mother today..but I know that she knows I love her...my ma ma. We went to a town outside of Sao Paulo today called Embu (aka the land of the arts). It was very neat, a lot of outside market type things. Then I went to Edsons house and ate lunch with his family, they are extremely nice people. Very warm and welcoming, and I am glad to have met people like them here. Then we watched the final soccer game between Sao Paulo and a rival state. It ended in a tie but the other team won because it was a tie...I guess Sau Paulo was behind a goal or something like that...not so sure. This place is so different that the states. I mean so is Europe, but this is something different that couldn't be explained only seen by eyes to understand. Much poverty and 'tag' all over all of the buildings. While we were driving today I said I was going to count the McDonalds but then I realized that I couldn't count that high...its incredible...and the TGI Fridays and the amount of influence that America has on Brazil....And all over the world is amazing. Tomorrow I go to the shopping centers across the street by myself while my dad works. Then Tuesday I am off to the beach for a while and then Weds I am going to Rio....isn't that a song? I don't know, but I am tired and I am going to hit the sack...until tomorrow....ciao.

Saturday, May 11, 2002

So I am in Brazil right now. I left Houston around 9:30 last night and got here about 8:30 this morning. I am so very tired and groggy. I didn't sleep on the plane because they are not all that comfortable if ya catch my drift. I ate some great food today and went around with a girl named Roberta, very nice and speaks good english. I was suprised to find out how many italian/german/japanese people there are here....the population is made up of them. Sao Paulo is a very large, enormous city with a population of 17 million! We are going to a village tomorrow so that should be interesting and then to Rio on Weds. I must get some sleep now but I will be writing more tomorrow. ciao.

Its tuesday. New Orleans was fun as usual, always gets the best of me though...I am so tired after that city. Can't imagine living there. I finished me finals yesterday and my first year of college. Feels weird...its a different feeling that like graduating elementary school...this is a weird feeling. I have a lot to do today so I am going to go do it. ciao.

Thursday, May 02, 2002

So I had one final already today and I am about to have my second one here in 45 mins. Then I am off to New Orleans for Jazzfest. Should be fun but I am going to have to study while I am there too...blugh. I went down the river two days ago and a 3 hour float took us 7 hours...needless to say I am burnt to blisters and I was not able to walk straight outa the water. It is getting to hot these days, my body can't take it to well. I need to migrate into the air or eat a lot of snowcones or something. My coffee addiction is turning to iced coffee about now. I am aching all over right now, I can't even stretch for fear my skin is going to rip right off me. It really is a horrible feeling. Anyways, I am outa here...Ciao.
